THE WOMEN’S INTER-CLUB TENNIS ASSOCIATION OF PHILADELPHIA
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 8, 2009
The meeting was called to order by President, Gail Yard, at 10:12a.m. Gail wished a Happy New Year to all.
Absent were Buckingham Racquet, Cedarbrook, Ft. Washington, Green Valley NJ, Picket Post, Radnor Valley, and Wallingford.
The minutes of the meeting of November 6, 2008 were approved as read.
The Treasurer’s report was submitted by Joy Susanin. The report shows a balance of $6,759.91. The proposed budget for 2008-2009 was approved by the member representatives with an estimated operating income of $15,179.91 and estimated expenses at $9,354 which leaves an estimated balance of $5,825.91.
Janet Dzubow, Match Chairman reminded reps that clubs should have a continuous ladder for players. Clubs need to proceed with finding new team members now so we have no defaults during this year’s season. A prayer for no rain was added.
Beverly Carroll, 2nd Vice-President, informed us that all Coordinators were in place for this coming season. Inter-club is always open to new faces so if anyone new is interested, please let Beverly know.
Connie Ebert, Admissions, welcomed Meadowlands and Green Valley of PA (formerly Wayne Swim & Tennis) back to Inter-club. Meredith Cheifitz will be the club representative for Meadowlands and Rose Weinstein will be the club representative for Green Valley PA.
Gail Yard, President, gave the Scheduling report for Marie Zweier. There were numerous teams adding and dropping cups. The scheduling meeting will take place Monday, January 19, 2009. At this time, we need to have all the additions and deletions to the cups so there will be no holes. We will try to fill cups 12 and F. Deadline for information for the book is February 12, 2009. Also, a request was made for direction changes. They need to go to Janet Dzubow as soon as possible.
Under new business, Rose Weinstein representing Philadelphia Tennis District/Middle States and USTA, informed us that the organization is raising money for Katie at the Bat and LaSalle Academy through the sale of 2009 calendars highlighting tennis clubs in the PATD district. The calendar price has been reduced to $5. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Rose, Janet Dzubow or Connie Ebert.
The next meeting will be held on March 26, 2009 at 10:00a.m. in the card room. At this time all representatives will receive their captains’ packets.
